Shawn Bramlett is the Lead kite flyer for Southern Lights LED Kites. He has been a Port Aransas beach goer for about forty years and a veteran kite flyer for about twenty. Mustang Island is the home beach — the sand, the wind, and the Gulf sky he learned on.
By day, kite festivals still fill this beach. Fly It Port A hosts those daytime fests. Shawn leads the night LED crew: LED kites and night flies after dark near Port Aransas beach markers 13–15, wind allowing. After sunset, the lights are how you still see a kite from the Port Aransas sand. Tracy Cheek is Key Flyer on that crew.
He wrote the Port Aransas beach guide so visitors coming to watch a day fly or a night fly have a dated, seasonal list for hotel, cart, RV, food, and shaved ice. The island changes. The rankings stay timestamped.
